The European Human Exposome Network had a kick-off meeting in Brussels on the 11th February, with over 240 participants from 23 countries.

The event brought together the nine large-scale exposome projects, comprised of 126 research groups, funded by the European Commission over the next five years.

It started with welcoming remarks from EU officials, followed by keynote speakers Christopher Wild, who originally coined the term exposome, talk on the exposome origins, and Gary Miller, Vice Dean of Research Strategy and Innovation at Columbia University and external advisor for ATHLETE, presentation on the exposome and 21st century challenges.

The gathering continued with presentations from the nine projects and panel discussions on the exposome and urban life, biological effects and the green new deal.
